PTT-100 30 gram PTT
The 30g PTT uses the same well
proven circuitry of our larger
PTTs, but it is built using hybrid
technology.
Used extensively over the last fifteen years to track the migration of many different species of birds, the 30 gram PTT-100 has been our most popular Argos satellite tracked transmitter. Whether tracking the migration of peregrine falcons from the Arctic to South America, or the wanderings of seabirds in the southern oceans, its use has revealed many of the routes taken by these species.
It is suitable for the worldwide tracking of birds as little as 800 grams in weight. This PTT uses the same well proven circuitry of our larger PTTs, but it is built using hybrid technology. The main electronic module weighs merely 3.5g.
The unit is available with the multi-season duty cycle timer that can be programmed to adjust the duty cycle of the transmitter to suit the phase of the study. It can be set to give an intense transmission rate during a migration yet become virtually dormant during a sedentary period such as nesting. Like the larger PTTs, this unit is fitted with temperature, battery voltage and activity sensors. Interpretation of the data from the temperature and activity sensors can be used to identify periods of flight or other behavior.
