SiV™—Satellite-in-View
SiV™ technology is a standard
feature on our Argos/GPS PTTs.
We have been asked many times over the last thirteen years whether it would be possible to activate our PTTs only when there is a satellite in view above the horizon, saving valuable battery life by not wasting transmissions when there are no satellites above the horizon to receive them. With the availability of tiny real clocks and very powerful low power microprocessors which can be programmed to predict when the satellites will pass over, we have developed a new module that replaces the traditional duty cycle timer with one that activates the PTT only at times when the satellites are most likely to be in view. It is a standard feature on our Argos/GPS PTTs and on our Archival Pop-up tags.
